The Kings and Queens
of England (since 871),
Scotland (since 843)
and the United Kingdom (since 1603)
In this historical section, I list every King and Queen of England and Scotland. In addition to the few autographs of Royals I have in my collection (see under "Autographs of Royals"), I have chosen different signatures from reference books. My favourite books in this category are Ray Rawlins´ "Four Hundred Years of British Autographs" (1973) and his "The Guinness Book of World Autographs" (1978). Both books are no longer in print, but with a little luck you´ll find a copy at abebooks. Another favourite is "English Royal Signatures" (1973), which was published by the British Public Record Office. The signatures displayed in this section are from these sources.
As in the other sections, the signatures are the most important entries. I have created a link whenever a signature was available, but have added just basic informations on the person itself; for closer biographical data, and for all the others who didn´t get a link (and no closer description), please have a look at the Official Homepage of the Royals; it has plenty of informations.
With most of the early souvereigns (especially the Scottish), there is no signature included, they simply aren´t available. In other cases, there may be more than one, to show different appearances and styles of a signature over the years.
The dates behind the name show the years of their reign.
