King Richard III
He was born at Forthingeray Castle, Northamptonshire, on 2 October 1452. When he was eight years old, his older brother Edward was proclaimed King IV. On the day of his coronation, Richard was created Duke of Gloucester. He fought loyal for the King against the Lancastrians during the "War of Roses". When his brother died, he became "Protector of the Realm" for his nephew King Edward V in April 1483, but he replaced the boy a few weeks later and was crowned at Westminster Abbey on 6 July 1483. He lost the battle against Henry Tudor and was killed at Bosworth Field on 22 August 1485, leaving no heir.
