King Edward VI
He was born at Hampton Court Palace on 12 October 1537, the son (by his third wife Jane) which King Henry VIII desired for such a long time. His mother died a few days later, so he was raised by some nurses until his stepmother Queen Katherine (Parr) took a hand in his upbringing and chose four of the greatest scholars in the kingdom to be his tutors. He succeeded his father in 1547 at the age of nine, so his maternal uncle, Lord Hertford, became the "Protector of the Realm", and was created "Duke of Somerset". Somerset was replaced (and beheaded) as Protector later by John Dudley, Earl of Warwick (created "Duke of Northumberland"). Of ill health for almost all his life, Edward died aged 15 on 6 July 1553.
Edward´s signature is very rare.
